What are the benefits of buying a used wedding gown or renting a gown?

I feel really bad for buying a $400 brand new wedding gown so I looked into renting or buying a used one. I am not going to save my dress if I buy one. What are the pros and cons of buying used, buying new, or renting. I appreciate your opinion!

You are using it only for 1 day. It make more sense if you rent or buy used wedding gown.

The pros:
1. Get nicer dress for cheaper price.
2. Spend the money for something more essential: make-up, photograph, wedding ring

The cons:
1. Almost nothing
